We offer a fantastic program to our students – our ilvl program is a wonderful motivational tool in our teachers arsenal. We know that kids love to compete, they love to accomplish things and to level up in video games. We have applied this to their lessons. They advance each lesson by earning xp (experience points) from practicing, participating, and progressing in their lessons. Their points get entered by their teacher to their avatar. As they level up they get different awards and the levels scale as they progress so level 1 to 2 takes 10 xp but to go from level 40 to 41 would take 50 xp. This ensures that even the newest students are continually progressing. At the first lesson each student gets to pick out their moniker, the code name they will go by on our ilvl site. Once they reach level 10 (which usually happens on the first or second lesson) the student gets to pick their avatar (the image they use with their moniker) which they use on the ilvl site. When they reach level 20 they get a gift certificate, level 30 they get a youtube video performance, level 40 they get a staff discount on any purchase in the shop and at level 50 they get a special recognition and award (no one has ever hit level 75 which is the next prize tier). They also get to ring the stores ship bell as they hit each 10 level milestone!
